LPG liquified petroleum gas (propane)

Propane is a byproduct of refining oil into gasoline. As such, it is essentially a no cost product, except for storage and transportation.

In it's natural state it is a colourless, odorless vapor which dissipates quickly. Ethyl Mercaptan is added to it as a safety measure to assist in detecting leaks, giving it a somewhat 'sulfurous' odor.

It is stored as a liquid in pressurized containers and this pressure is one of the features that makes it an ideal fuel. Without pressure, the liquid propane returns to it's natural vapourous state, negating the need for any fuel pumps.

The fuel flow and rate of vapourization simply needs to be regulated and delivered to the combustion chamber with the proper mix of air for efficient combusion.

Propane Vehicles

Propane use in vehicles is not new, indeed, it been around in Europe since the 1940's and North America since the 1950's.

With it's wide availability and affordability auto propane users enjoy a convenient, green fuel that can save thousands of dollars in fuel and maintenance and extend the lives of their vehicles.

Widely available at gas stations throughout Canada, the use of auto propane can create fuel savings of 40% or more versus the cost of a liter of gasoline.

Larger fleets can also have their own propane fuelling stations installed on site, further enhancing their fuel savings and availability.
